FAQ: Do I need to Apply for a Grant of Probate?

Only an Executor or Executors named in the Will are entitled to deal with a Deceased’s Estate. However the Executor can appoint a Probate Practitioner or Solicitor to make the application on the Executor’s behalf and deal with the administration process.

A Grant of Probate will be required where the deceased held property or land in their sole name or where their investments – banks, building society accounts, stocks and shares or other investments, such as premium bonds or ISAs exceed the limit set by the investment provider.
